My name is Kenneth Palkow. I’m 40 years old and currently reside in the state of Pennsylvania, USA. I’m a mechanical engineer and owner of a company which provides prototype design, research/development, and other engineering services to various companies throughout the world including the film industry.

I was always fascinated by two things ever since I was a kid… science fiction and anything mechanical. I was always taking things apart and then try to put them back together again… one way or another.

After high school, I joined the Army and have 14 years combined active and reserve time. During this period, I went to college and received my degree in Aeronautics. I was employed in the aviation industry for some time conducting non-destructive inspection of aircraft parts. Using a lot of the skills I learned in aviation, I began making movie props and on the weekends… you could find me at sci-fi conventions selling them.

I eventually went back to school and received my degree in Mechanical Engineering and started my own company. At first, I concentrated on prototype design and manufacture.  Slowly my services started expanding towards the film industry. Today, my company has grown to be able to provide a wide range of services to include Prototype RTV molds, roto-casting, 3d printing, stereo lithography, selective laser sintering, injection molding, loss wax casting, as well as full machining services.
I remember seeing Short Circuit in the movie theater and how intrigued I was by the J5 robot. I knew then that some day he would be sitting in my living room.

Currently my role with the J5 project is the reverse engineering of the SSPS 102 servos and manufacture of a new replacement servo. So far we have made considerable progress.

I hope you enjoyed reading a little bit about me and I thank all of you for being so patient and supportive of the J5 project.

Signed,
Kenneth Palkow
